Rangers cut the gap on title rivals Celtic to one point with a comfortable victory over St Johnstone at a blustery Ibrox stadium.

Kevin Kelsy gave the 'Gers a deserved lead in the 29th minute after Kim Min-Su picked out Ryan Naderi in the penalty area, who squared it to the Venezuelan forward for a tap in.

Kim Min-Su was unlucky not to double his side's lead shortly after, with the South Korean playmaker seeing his effort rebounding off the post.

Kelsy had a chance to double Rangers' lead before the interval following some nice link up play with Naderi; however his effort was saved by St Johnstone 'keeper Steward.

Ryan Naderi would make it 2-0 just past the hour mark, again following some decent play from Kim Min-Su whose shot was saved - with the ball falling to Naderi to prod home from close range.

Five minutes later and the points were all but assured, with Kelsy doubling his tally for the afternoon with a simple finish following a corner.

The visitors were reduced to 10 men after a VAR review, following Kai Fotheringham's foul on Nico Raskin.

The hosts then made it 4-0 with substitute Chukwuani finding the net, assisted by Djeidi Gassama who picked out the midfielder in the box.

Derek McInnes: "The scoreline was just about right because of chances created. It's a learning curve for us. It's hard to maintain levels, but the first half was as good as we've been for a while."

Up next for the Light Blues is a trip to Tynecastle to face Hearts on Wednesday night, before next weekends League Cup semi-final showdown with Aberdeen at Hampden Park.
